Galle Fort

One of the first places anyone typically recommends or speaks of in Galle, is the Galle Fort, and with good reason too. It’s listed on UNESCO as a World Heritage site, and is home to hundreds of old, colonial buildings that add so much texture and character to the region, including churches, mosques and temples to name a few. Though the area seems quite expansive, it’s actually walkable on foot, allowing you to take your time with exploring. The fort itself is covered by walls on three sides separating you from the ocean, and you can walk on top of them for a spectacular view.
